Theatre for Pre-Schoolers, GUEST POST by Bubele App

Theatre for Pre-Schoolers  The theatre can be a magical place for children. But taking young children to the theatre can be daunting; will they enjoy it; will they sit through it all; will you end up making an accidental cameo running after your child? Thankfully there are some great shows out there, designed as the ideal introduction to theatre for pre-schoolers. Here are our top picks of shows touring the country right now!   Stick Man This duo receive God-Like status in the Bubele household. Last year Stick Man received rave reviews from parents and children alike, so The Scamp Theatre are touring this moving story of a Stick Man trying to get home to his family, again this autumn. Already confirmed for Dunfermline, Blackburn and Newcastle theatres, more dates are expected to be released in the near future.  Duration: Approx 55 mns   The Scarecrow Wedding Another favourite from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay are scarecrows. Harry loves Betty, and Betty loves Harry, so they decide to get married. Join Harry on his search for wedding day essentials, meeting a host of characters along the way. All the while Betty is fending off the dastardly Reginald Rake. Catch the show in your local theatre between May and August 2017.  The trailer can be found here. Duration: Approx 60 mins   The Hungry Caterpillar Show A visual masterpiece this show includes over 75 brightly coloured and imaginatively designed puppets, and tells the story of not only the Very Hungry Caterpillar, but 3 other of Eric Carle’s classic books. The huge tour is covering nearly all of the UK with shows running from May until July 2017, with the next stop in Dubai later in the year. The trailer can be found here. Duration: 55 mins   Dogs Don’t Do Ballet Biff the dog is obsessed with ballet and makes the grownups laugh just as much as the kids.  Based on the bestselling children's book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie, it’s a feel-good show featuring music, songs, and handcrafted puppets. In theatres near you from May to September, or check out if it’s being performed at your local park or National Trust property at one of the summer outdoor performances. The trailer can be found here. Duration: Approx 45 mins   Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday  The CBBC favourites are hitting the road and visiting theatres across the country from Falkirk to Eastbourne throughout May to July.  Join Sarah and Duck and a host of their friends including The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots, Flamingo & John and Umbrella, as they plan a birthday party for Scarf Lady in their garden. Told through a blend of puppetry, storytelling and music, Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday will take you and your children on a magical adventure.  The trailer can be found here. Duration: Approx 1 hour 10 minutes including interval.   Back next month!
