Bee Good

  Hook, Hampshire

My involvement with bees began back in 2008 when my husband and experienced beekeeper, Simon was busy with his beekeeping and whilst the bees were equally busy in the hives, producing the magical skin enhancing by-products of honey, beeswax and propolis.

I was fascinated to learn about harnessing the excess honey and beeswax and found an old recipe book dating from the 1740’s in our local library. From these centuries old recipes, I started to create natural skincare products at our kitchen table and this led to our first award-winning Bee Good products – a lip balm and hand cream.

We won awards at local Hampshire events five years in a row so we knew we had hit on skincare products that consistently made a positive difference to our customers' skin. The demand grew quickly and by 2013 we knew it was time to develop a business.

Now as a small team, including skincare and beauty experts, we’re successfully selling our professionally formulated premium Bee Good skincare range nationally whilst supporting British beekeeping and Bee Farmers at the same time.

Like Simon, my daughter Elsa is a keen beekeeper and whilst I am not involved in the day to day running of the business now, I’m immensely passionate about bees and about what Bee Good is doing for British beekeeping and for your skin.

Mama Tip

It’s important to plan into your week at least a couple of the things you enjoy even if you’re passionate about your work. Whether it’s thinking smart so that you can be with the family for specific activities and events, or to have some ‘me' time. I love to be outdoors so it’s often easier to combine more than one activity. Whatever I do it comes down to creatively stealing time to keep my work/life balance intact and planning allows me a bit of space to be impulsive too.
