Tilly’s Treats Handcrafted Chocolates

  Reading/Newbury

Like most, if not every parent, having my daughter was the best thing that ever happened to me, but it was also an extremely sad time too, as just a couple of weeks before she was born, I lost my most treasured aunt (Tilly) to cancer. Calling her my aunt is an understatement of what she meant to me. She was more like my big sister, best friend and confidant rolled into one. Dealing with cancer and what it meant from her early thirties, she was an inspiration of what life should be about, so losing her and having my daughter at the same time, really made me sit back and wonder why I sat in traffic everyday, going to a job that I no longer enjoyed, when someone else enjoyed the company of my beautiful daughter (who we also named Tilly).
Around the same time, my mum bought me some chocolate moulds when we were out shopping together… she claimed it was in exchange for childcare, but I suspect it was actually a plan to get Tilly to herself! I have always loved being in the kitchen… I love the idea of creating something special from basic ingredients and chocolate took it to another level… I found my passion and what is now my career! I am very proud to be known as “Chocolate Sam” in my village and I hope that you enjoy eating my chocolates as much as I enjoy making them.

Mama Tip

Structure! Juggling so many things means that structure is important to ensure you can manage it all AND keep your sanity. We are told that babies and children need routine and I have found that my business does too…. Well it is my other baby after all!
